About our DDaT Services team
At Wiltshire Police, we're transforming policing through Digital, Data and Technology. We recognise that DDaT is no longer simply an enabler of policing; it is a strategic capability at the heart of how we protect communities, empower our workforce and deliver better public services. As we evolve from a traditional ICT function into a modern, user-centred DDaT organisation, we're embracing cloud technologies, automation, AI, data and digital innovation to create smarter, more connected and resilient services. Join us at the start of an ambitious transformation, where you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of digital policing, work with emerging technologies, influence meaningful change and build a rewarding career that makes a real difference to our organisation and the communities we serve.
About the role
As Service Transition Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how new and enhanced digital, data and technology services are introduced across Wiltshire Police. Working at the heart of digital transformation, you will ensure services are secure, resilient, supportable and ready for operational use from day one. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the successful delivery of modern digital services, bringing together delivery, operational and technical teams to create seamless transitions that improve user experience, reduce risk and enable the future of digital policing.
What you will be doing
Lead the successful transition of new and enhanced digital, data and technology services, including cloud, automation, RPA and AI-enabled solutions, into live operation, ensuring they are secure, resilient and operationally ready from day one.
Assess service readiness and determine whether products and services meet agreed service acceptance criteria and operational requirements.
Define and maintain service acceptance standards covering supportability, resilience, security, documentation, training and operational readiness.
Act as the gatekeeper for go-live decisions, providing evidence-based recommendations that balance delivery ambition with operational risk.
Coordinate transition activities across service, delivery, operational and supplier teams, ensuring clear ownership and effective handovers.
Establish and manage Early Life Support arrangements to ensure new services are stabilised and successfully embedded into live operations.
Manage transition risks proactively, ensuring issues are identified, mitigated and escalated where required.
Drive continual improvement by using service metrics, assurance findings and lessons learned to enhance transition practices and standards.
About you and your experience
Experience supporting or leading service transition, change, release or service management activities within a Digital, Data and Technology environment.
A strong understanding of service acceptance, operational readiness and the successful introduction of services into live operation.
The ability to balance innovation, delivery pace and operational resilience to achieve successful outcomes.
Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and suppliers.
A proactive and organised approach to planning, coordination and risk management.
Experience using evidence, assurance and operational insight to support decision-making and continual improvement.
A commitment to delivering user-focused, secure and supportable services that enable organisational success.
