Full time, permanent
Saïd Business School is seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join our HR Shared Services team and provide pragmatic, professional and legally compliant HR advice across both Saïd Business School and Oxford Saïd Business School Limited.
This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys working in a busy, varied and policy-led environment, supporting managers and staff across the full employee lifecycle. You will provide clear, practical and timely advice on a wide range of HR matters, helping to deliver a high-quality employee experience while ensuring consistency, compliance and alignment with University procedures.
Working closely with HR Business Partners, HR colleagues, managers and staff, you will play a key role in supporting effective HR service delivery across the School. You will advise on policy, employment law, immigration and visa requirements, HR processes, people data and workforce planning, while contributing to a proactive and joined-up HR service.
Our people are central to the success and impact of Saïd Business School. As HR Advisor, you will help ensure that staff and managers receive the right advice, guidance and support at the right time.
This is a varied role covering employee relations, onboarding, contracts, right-to-work compliance, absence management, probation, payroll processes, HR data, policy interpretation and continuous improvement. You will also supervise and support HR Administrators, helping to ensure effective service delivery and a positive experience for colleagues across the School.
You will be trusted to interpret policy, apply sound judgement, manage competing priorities and support managers with confidence and professionalism. The role also offers the opportunity to contribute to HR projects, process improvements and service enhancements that support the wider People and OD function.
You will act as a first point of contact for managers and staff, providing expert HR advice and guidance on a range of employment matters. You will support managers with change activity and straightforward employee relations cases, escalating more complex matters where appropriate.
You will use HR systems and data to identify trends, produce reports and provide insight to inform decision-making. You will also help plan, implement and improve departmental HR processes in areas such as induction, probation, right-to-work compliance and absence management.
Alongside this, you will help ensure that HR records, documentation, payroll processes and compliance activity are accurate, timely and aligned with University standards.
We are looking for someone with experience of working in a busy HR environment, with responsibility for managing HR processes and advising managers and staff.
You will bring sound knowledge of UK employment law, practical experience of applying HR policy, and an understanding of Home Office visa and right-to-work requirements. You will be confident using HR systems and data to produce reports, identify trends and support effective workforce planning.
You will have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to build professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You will also be committed to delivering a high level of customer service and supporting colleagues in a calm, clear and professional way.
This role would suit someone who is proactive, organised, collaborative and confident working in a complex organisation where judgement, discretion and service quality matter.
Saïd Business School is a vibrant, international and ambitious business school embedded within the University of Oxford. We deliver world-class education, research and executive programmes that create impact across business and society.

The University also offers an excellent benefits package, including 38 days’ annual leave, generous pension schemes, access to professional development opportunities, staff discounts, wellbeing support and access to Oxford’s cultural, sporting and social facilities.
