A private country house in rural Gloucestershire is seeking an experienced, polished and personable Housekeeping Assistant to join its established small household team.

The Role
Working as part of a small, dedicated team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day housekeeping and presentation of the private residence, ensuring the highest standards are consistently maintained for the residents and their guests.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Cleaning and caring for private rooms, guest bedrooms, bathrooms, staff offices, staircases and corridors.
- Maintaining carpets, hard floors, furnishings, upholstery, curtains, mirrors, internal glass, picture and photograph frames, decorative items, antiques, silver and brass.
- Caring for delicate fabrics, antique furnishings and valuable household items using appropriate cleaning and maintenance methods.
- Managing household laundry, including the care, washing, ironing and presentation of bed and bath linen.
- Preparing the house for guests, events and functions, including occasional preparation and cleaning of the Function Barn for meetings.
- Maintaining appropriate stocks of cleaning materials and purchasing supplies within an agreed budget.
- Caring for flower arrangements and potted plants.
- Identifying and reporting any maintenance, structural or fabric issues.
- Working in accordance with all relevant Health & Safety and Fire Safety requirements.
- Providing flexible support to other members of the household team when required.
- Carrying out other duties reasonably requested by the residents.
The role offers a degree of independence in managing daily responsibilities, with operational matters and wider household requirements coordinated with the PA and Office Co-ordinator.
Hours & Flexibility
The position is 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday. There may be occasional weekend work and some flexibility regarding working hours and location.
The Person
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in professional housekeeping and cleaning.
- Knowledgeable about the correct care of antiques, delicate fabrics, silver, brass and high-quality furnishings.
- Meticulous, organised and highly attentive to detail.
- Reliable, punctual and confident working independently as well as within a small team.
- Able to prioritise effectively and use initiative.
- Flexible, proactive and genuinely hands-on in their approach.
- Polite, friendly and well presented, with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Discreet and completely trustworthy, with a strong understanding of confidentiality.
- Comfortable working around dogs.
Desirable
- Previous experience working within a private household.
- A full, clean UK driving licence.
- Ideally living within approximately 30–40 minutes' driving distance of the property.
