Job Summary:
Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement of goods, materials, and services needed by the engineering department, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements. This includes developing and implementing purchasing strategies and managing supplier relationships. They also play a crucial role in cost control, risk management, and ensuring alignment between procurement and production goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing purchasing strategies:
This involves creating plans to optimize procurement processes, reduce costs, and ensure a reliable supply chain.
- Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers:
This includes assessing supplier capabilities, quality, pricing, and delivery performance.
- Ensuring Production flow is not affected by shortages:
Planning ahead making sure everything is in on time, raising any foreseeable delays and putting a plan together to cover if this arises.
- Providing Support to Goods in/ Managing the Purchasing Schedule:
Checking orders when they come in and managing the Purchasing schedule, so its kept up to date on all planned builds.
- Managing supplier relationships:
Building strong partnerships and ensuring compliance with contracts.
- Ensuring timely delivery and quality of procured goods and services:
This requires close monitoring of supplier performance and proactive management of potential disruptions.
- Managing the purchasing process:
This includes tasks like creating purchase orders, tracking expenditures, and managing inventory.
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing cost-reduction initiatives:
This requires a proactive approach to finding ways to reduce expenses without compromising quality.
- Collaborating with engineering/production teams:
This involves ensuring that procurement activities are aligned with engineering requirements, project timelines, and product development goals.
- Managing and mitigating supply chain risks:
This includes developing contingency plans, diversifying suppliers, and ensuring business continuity.
Pay: Up to £45,000.00 per year
