Role Overview
Ponty Plumbing is seeking an experienced Bathroom Fitter & Tiler capable of delivering full bathroom refurbishments from initial strip-out through to final completion. This role requires a skilled tradesperson who can take ownership of projects, work independently, and consistently deliver high-quality, compliant installations in customers’ homes.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete full bathroom refurbishments from demolition to final finish
- Carry out strip-out, first fix, framing, second fix and tiling works
- Plan and execute plumbing and waste installations in line with regulations
- Construct solid, level frames and studwork suitable for long-term use
- Tile full bathrooms and kitchens to a professional, high-quality standard
- Ensure all work meets current Water Regulations and relevant building standards
- Maintain a clean, tidy and respectful working environment
- Communicate clearly with colleagues and management regarding progress and scheduling
Essential Skills & Experience
Qualifications & Compliance
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing (or equivalent)
- Valid CSCS card
- Public Liability Insurance
- Professional Indemnity Insurance
- Strong working knowledge of Water Regulations and compliance requirements
- Ability to produce work that meets relevant building and plumbing standards
- Full UK Driving License with experience driving vans
Plumbing & Waste Systems
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience in bathroom fitting and plumbing
- Skilled in working with copper pipework, including:
- Soldering
- Pipe bending
- Correct clipping and neat installation
- Proven ability to plan, install and modify waste pipework to standards
- Experience with solvent weld waste systems (32mm–144mm)
- Confident cutting and converting cast iron waste pipes to PVC-U
- Clear understanding of waste pipe venting and airflow requirements
Framing & Fiting
- Ability to build solid, level frames for:
- Baths
- Shower trays
- Toilet boxing
- Construct stud walls and install noggins accurately
- Prepare and assess substrates suitable for tiling and wet areas
Tiling
- Experience tiling full bathrooms and kitchens
- Understanding of:
- Movement joints
- Substrate tolerances and preparation
- Waterproofing systems
- Ability to achieve consistent, high-quality finishes
- Experience with complex layouts (e.g. chevrons and patterned designs)
- Clean mitred corners and accurate detailing
- Ability to tile neatly around niches, windows and fixtures
- Photo evidence of previous tiling work required
Electrical Awareness
- Basic electrical awareness relating to bathroom installations
- Understanding of bathroom zoning and IP ratings
- Awareness of when works must be carried out by a qualified electrician
