Main Aims of the Job:
Purpose of Job: To launder and iron the clients clothing to a high standard for individual Residents in the Home.
To be aware and familiar with the home’s policies relating to
· COSHH Control of Substances Hazardous to Health
· Health and Safety
· Infection Control
· Moving and Handling
Laundry
· All laundry is to be collected from collection points and taken to the laundry to be sorted.
· Laundry is to be sorted in to clothes and linen piles to be washed separately, and according to the clothing labels.
· All clothing and linen in the red bags are to be washed separately from other items.
· All appropriate clothing and linen are to be dried in the tumble dryer prior to ironing.
· Jumpers are to be only washed on a ‘jumper woollen’ wash
· All clothing is to be hung on hangers once ironed.
· Underwear including nightwear is to be placed in the appropriate Resident’s Named basket.
· Once ironed, the clothes are to be returned to the client’s room and put away in the wardrobe and/or appropriate drawers.
General
· The laundry room is to be clean and tidy at the end of the working day.
· The tumble dryer is to be cleaned on a daily basis
· The iron is to be descaled weekly on a Friday
· Notify the Person in Charge as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty and also on your return to work from all periods of absence
· Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures within the defined timescales
Report any defect to the Nurse in Charge as soon as possible. The above job description is not exhaustive and you may be required to carry out any task that may be reasonably assigned to you.
