The Olde Victoria is a privately owned, independent pub and restaurant in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire. Alongside our sister pub, The Olde Cobbler in Kingsthorpe, we’re a busy, growing business with a reputation for great food and a strong team culture.
We’re looking for a hardworking and reliable Commis Chef / Kitchen Assistant to join our small kitchen team.
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position – not a zero-hours contract. Previous professional kitchen experience is essential, but this is a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop their skills and progress within a busy kitchen.

- Taking responsibility for the Starter & Cold Section
- Preparing ingredients and assisting with general kitchen duties
- Setting up and stocking your section ready for service
- Working efficiently during busy services
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness
- Working closely with the rest of the kitchen team
- Supporting the Sous Chef when the Head Chef is off
- Helping to maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen
What we’re looking for
- Previous professional kitchen experience is essential
- Good understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently in a busy kitchen
- Good attention to detail
- Reliable, hardworking and willing to learn
- A positive attitude and ability to work as part of a small team
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and daytime shifts
What we offer
- £10.85–£13.00 per hour, depending on experience
- 40-hour contracted working week
- A share of our monthly staff tip pot
- Staff discount
- Free meals while on duty
- Loyalty bonus
- Further training and professional qualifications where appropriate
- Free parking
- Pension
- Opportunities to progress within the business
Why work with us?
We’re not a big corporate operation with head office telling us how to run our kitchens. We’re an independent business, and that gives our team the opportunity to have a genuine influence on what we do.
We work hard, we’re busy, and we expect high standards — but we also want our people to enjoy coming to work and have the opportunity to develop.
If you’re an experienced kitchen worker looking for a full-time role in a busy but supportive independent pub and restaurant, we’d love to hear from you.
