The Role of Additional Education Needs (AEN) Intructor
Work under the direction and supervision of the SLT lead and teaching staff to provide high quality and appropriately targeted support to learners with learning difficulties and or physical disabilities to facilitate their independence, their access to learning and their integration into the school community. To promote the learning, achievement, personal development and well-being of all students. This will include supporting the development and delivery of KS3 literacy and numeracy interventions (this will include Read Write Inc.)

Key Responsibilities:

To work in partnership with teachers to develop a personalised learning programme which meets the learners’ needs, interests, capabilities and aspirations and contributes to the school and wider community

To work in partnership with the Leader(s) of Literacy and Numeracy to support and deliver intervention for literacy and numeracy as required

To work as part of the SEN/Additional Learner Support Team to provide learning support to young people on mainstream courses. Support may be delivered on a 1:1, small group basis within the classroom, community, or workshop environment under the direction of course teachers

Adopt an innovative and creative approach to support learners, employ strategies to empower, promote independent learning and encourage aspirational attitudes to learning

Collect, record, and analyse data related to learners’ progress
- To invigilate internal and external tests and examinations under formal conditions

To maintain professional relationships with learners, parents, carers and staff

Keep records of support provided as directed

Respond appropriately to requests from learners for support in the learning process to maximise their skills, abilities. potential and independence.
