CNC Miller – Setter Operator

WB Employment is currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Miller Setter Operator to join a well-established precision engineering company based in Bristol.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC Miller to join a highly experienced manufacturing team producing high-quality precision components for demanding industries.
We are also open to considering candidates with different levels of CNC Milling experience, from experienced Operators through to Setter Operators and Programmer Setter Operators, depending on skills and experience.
Salary
Salary will depend on experience, technical ability, and suitability for the role.
Shift premium available:
- 25% shift allowance for rotating double day shifts
Working Hours – Rotating Double Day Shift Early Shift
Monday to Thursday: 6:00am - 2:00pm
Friday: 6:00am - 11:00am
Late Shift
Monday to Thursday: 2:00pm - 10:00pm
Friday: 11:00am - 4:00pm
25% shift premium applies
The Role
As a CNC Miller Setter Operator, you will be responsible for setting and operating CNC milling machines to manufacture precision components in line with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and quality standards.
Your duties will include:
- Setting and operating 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC milling machines
- Working with Heidenhain and/or Fanuc controls
- Producing complex precision components from a range of materials
- Setting tooling, fixtures, work offsets, and machine parameters
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Selecting and installing suitable cutting tools and tool holders
- Monitoring machining processes and making adjustments where required
- Producing components to tight tolerances and quality standards
- Carrying out inspections using precision measuring equipment, including:
- Micrometers
- Verniers
- Plug gauges
- Completing production records, setup sheets, and tool documentation
- Supporting continuous improvement activities within the production team
- Following all health & safety and quality procedures
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Previous experience setting and operating CNC Milling machines
- Experience with Heidenhain and/or Fanuc controls
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience using precision measuring equipment
- Ability to work accurately to tight tolerances
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Desirable
- Experience with 3, 4, or 5-axis CNC milling
- Previous precision engineering or aerospace experience
- CNC programming experience
- Experience using inspection equipment such as CMM or Opticline machines
