About the Role
EXIN Construction Ltd is looking for experienced, reliable and professional Painters & Decorators to join our refurbishment teams working across social housing properties in Birmingham and the surrounding areas.
You will be responsible for carrying out painting and decorating works to a high standard as part of our planned refurbishment and void property programmes.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Painters & Decorators looking for regular, ongoing work with an established and growing refurbishment contractor.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out internal painting and decorating works within social housing properties.
- Prepare walls, ceilings, woodwork and other surfaces prior to painting.
- Fill cracks, holes and minor imperfections and ensure surfaces are properly prepared.
- Sand, prime and prepare surfaces to achieve a high-quality finish.
- Apply emulsion, gloss, undercoat and other appropriate coatings.
- Paint walls, ceilings, doors, frames, skirting boards and other internal areas.
- Carry out wallpaper removal and minor decorating preparation where required.
- Complete works within agreed timescales and to the required standard.
- Ensure all finishes are neat, clean and consistent throughout the property.
- Protect flooring, fixtures, fittings and tenant belongings during works.
- Work alongside Site Managers and other trades within refurbishment programmes.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
- Identify and report defects, damage or additional works required.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately.
- Work professionally and respectfully within tenants’ homes.
- Ensure properties are left clean, tidy and ready for the next stage of refurbishment.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Painter & Decorator.
- Strong experience working on domestic properties.
- High standard of workmanship and attention to detail.
- Good knowledge of preparation, painting and finishing techniques.
- Able to work independently and as part of a wider refurbishment team.
- Reliable, punctual and professional.
- Good communication skills.
- Able to work to deadlines and within a planned refurbishment programme.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Own tools and PPE.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Experience working within social housing.
- Experience working on void properties.
- Experience working on planned refurbishment programmes.
- Experience working alongside kitchen and bathroom installation teams.
- Experience working in occupied properties and understanding the importance of tenant care.
- CSCS card or relevant trade qualification.
- Ability to identify additional works and communicate requirements clearly.

You must be able to work to a high standard within a busy refurbishment programme and complete works within agreed timescales.
As you will be working within social housing properties, you must also be respectful, polite and professional when dealing with tenants and members of the public.
Poor workmanship, unreliable attendance or failure to complete works to the required standard will not be acceptable.
