Company Overview
We are seeking a Nursery Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Little Me Day Nursery in Canada Water London.
In this role, you will support the preparation and serving of nutritious meals for children, ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are maintained. Your contribution will help foster a healthy and happy environment for our young learners.
The hours of work would be 9:30am - 2:30pm, Monday to Friday all year round. The ideal candidate should also be willing to cover for our Nursery Cook, when they are on holiday.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and serving meals that meet nutritional standards
- Check shopping from order and put away
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen area
- Support food safety procedures in accordance with regulations
- Help with meal portioning and presentation
- Prepare trolleys for lunch and tea
- Collect trolleys after lunch and clean them thoroughly
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is used safely and correctly
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all time
Qualifications/Experience
- Proven experience in catering, cooking, or kitchen assistance
- Knowledge of food safety standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Flexibility to support various tasks as needed
- Prior experience working with children or in a nursery setting is a plus
- Food handling or safety certification is desirable
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a busy kitchen and will either hold or be willing to undertake their Food Hygiene certificate Level 2.
As part of our safer recruitment policy we require the successful candidate to provide two satisfactory references, one from their previous employer and to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
