Neighbourhood Coffee House is an established independent café serving speciality coffee, brunch, sandwiches, and homemade food in a welcoming community focused environment.
We're looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and reliable Chef to join our growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work across our busy daytime café operation, with the option to become involved in two exciting new evening food concepts as the business expands.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys not only cooking great food but also contributing ideas, developing menus, and helping shape the future direction of an independent hospitality business.
About the Role
Working on a rota basis, you'll be responsible for preparing and serving our popular brunch menu, bagels and specials while maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and kitchen organisation.
We're looking for someone who brings creativity to the kitchen, enjoys working with seasonal ingredients, and can contribute to menu development and new food concepts. As we continue to grow, there will be opportunities to help design and launch new menus for both our café and upcoming evening venture.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and cooking food to order during service
- Maintaining consistency, quality, and presentation standards
- Completing daily food preparation and stock rotation
- Managing kitchen cleanliness and organisation
- Following all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures
- Working collaboratively with front-of-house staff to deliver excellent customer service
- Contributing ideas for menu development, specials, and new dishes
- Assisting with menu design, recipe development, costing, and seasonal menu changes
- Supporting the launch and operation of future evening services
- Helping identify food trends and opportunities to enhance our offering
What We're Looking For
- Experience working in a café, brunch kitchen or restaurant environment
- A genuine passion for food and creativity in the kitchen
- Confidence developing dishes and contributing menu ideas
- Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety procedures
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
