Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Gardener, Tree Surgery Trainee, and Driver. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in horticulture, landscape maintenance, and tree surgery while gaining practical experience in the field. The successful candidate will be involved in various gardening and tree care tasks, supporting our team with hands-on work and operational duties. This paid position is ideal for someone passionate about gardening and keen to pursue a career in arboriculture or landscape management.
Responsibilities
- Assist with planting, pruning, and maintaining trees, shrubs, and garden beds using hand tools and power tools.
- Support the team in tree surgery activities, including climbing and rigging as required under supervision.
- Operate irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants and landscaped areas.
- Maintain garden areas by weeding, mulching, fertilising, and general landscape upkeep.
- Handle equipment such as lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and other horticultural tools safely and effectively.
- Assist with transporting materials, tools, and plant stock around sites using company vehicles.
- Support the team in site preparation, clearance, and ongoing landscape maintenance projects.
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently during all tasks to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements
- Experience or interest in gardening, horticulture, or landscape maintenance is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, irrigation systems, and growing techniques is advantageous.
- Ability to operate or willingness to learn how to operate gardening machinery safely.
- Valid driving licence is preferred; ability to drive company vehicles is essential for transporting equipment and materials.
- Physical fitness to undertake outdoor work in various weather conditions; ability to lift moderate loads safely.
- Enthusiasm for learning about tree surgery techniques and horticultural practices.
- Good organisational skills with an organised approach to work tasks.
