The Buffalo Farm Bothy serves freshly prepared breakfasts, lunches and homemade favourites using quality local ingredients, including produce from our own farm. We pride ourselves on serving honest, wholesome food in a welcoming, family-friendly environment.
We’re looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Cook who loves preparing great food and enjoys working in a busy kitchen where no two days are the same.
The Role
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys cooking quality, wholesome food and wants to work daytime hours without the late nights often associated with hospitality.
You’ll be responsible for preparing and cooking a range of freshly made dishes, including:
- Full Scottish breakfasts
- Burgers and loaded fries
- Toasties, sandwiches and light lunches
- Homemade soups
- Daily specials
- Children’s meals
- Cakes and simple desserts (finishing and plating where required)
We’re looking for someone who can confidently take ownership of the kitchen during their shift, ensuring excellent food quality, efficient service and high standards are maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items to a consistently high standard.
- Deliver food quickly and efficiently during busy service periods.
- Maintain exceptional food hygiene and cleanliness.
- Assist with menu development and daily specials.
- Monitor stock, rotate ingredients and minimise waste.
- Receive and store deliveries correctly.
- Support and work alongside the wider kitchen team.
- Follow all Food Hygiene and HACCP procedures.
- Help create a positive, organised and supportive kitchen environment.
About You
You’ll ideally have experience working in a busy café, bistro or restaurant kitchen and be confident preparing fresh breakfasts and lunches from scratch.
You’ll also be:
- Passionate about producing great food.
- Calm and organised under pressure.
- Reliable and hardworking.
- A real team player with a positive attitude.
- Someone who takes pride in presentation, consistency and cleanliness.
- Food Hygiene qualified (or willing to achieve this).
