At The Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary we rescue & rehome animals from our sanctuary in Stadhampton. We are a much-loved and well-supported charity, at the heart of our community. Our 4 charity shops in Oxfordshire - Carterton, Witney, Eynsham and Summertown, play a significant role in raising vital funds to enable us to rescue and rehome pets across Oxfordshire.
About the role
We’re looking for reliable, energetic, hands-on Manager & Assistant Manager to run our Carterton shop by driving sales, creating a welcoming space, and leading a fantastic team of volunteers.

What you’ll be doing:
- Leading the day-to-day running of a busy shop.
- Maximising sales and profit through great merchandising and stock management.
- Delivering excellent customer service and creating a welcoming shop environment.
- Recruiting, training and motivating volunteers.
- Maintaining a safe environment by ensuring full compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
- Generating high-quality stock donations
About you
- A passion for great customer service with experience in a customer-facing environment like hospitality, high street or charity retail would help you hit the ground running.
- Previous supervisory or management experience.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence in training and motivating a team of volunteers.
- A positive, flexible approach and willingness to learn.
- Confidence in calculating figures and working with financial targets
- Ideally, you will have experience working in retail, the ability to problem solve, team leadership and good communication skills.
- Manual handling - lifting carrying donations - will be required on a regular basis.
- Right to work in the UK – we cannot provide sponsorship
The role will require some flexibility - weekend (Saturday) work on a rota basis. Working patterns can change due to the needs of the business and levels of volunteers available to work so a willingness to cover in our other shops also welcome.

Pay: £25,000.00-£28,500.00 per year
