Bolton | Full-time, Permanent | Up to £50,000 per year
An established Bolton firm is looking to appoint an experienced Solicitor to handle a mixed caseload of serious injury and medical negligence claims.
This is a role with genuine ownership — not a supporting position. You’ll run your own files from first instruction through to settlement, instruct medical experts and counsel, and work directly with clients through what is often the most difficult period of their lives.
The mixed caseload is a real draw for the right person: variety, breadth, and the chance to build expertise across two closely related disciplines rather than being confined to one.
What you’ll be doing
- Managing your own mixed caseload independently, from instruction to settlement
- Serious injury work including RTA, employers’ liability, public liability and catastrophic injury claims
- Clinical negligence work including surgical error, delayed or missed diagnosis, birth injury and GP negligence
- Obtaining and analysing medical records and evidence
- Instructing medical experts and counsel on breach of duty and causation
- Negotiating settlements and conducting litigation where matters proceed
- Supporting clients sensitively and keeping them informed throughout
What we’re looking for
- Qualified Solicitor with 5+ years’ PQE in serious injury and/or clinical negligence
- Proven experience running your own caseload with minimal supervision
- Strong working knowledge of the CPR and relevant case law
- Confident analysing medical evidence and identifying breach and causation
- Genuinely client-focused — this work needs empathy as much as technical ability
