Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant to support our finance team in delivering their service. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail and have a passion for delivering good service. This role involves managing relevant finance tasks such as processing ledger information.
Responsibilities
The key requirement and area of responsibility of this role is in processing ledger information, primarily the creditor ledger in which there is 400+ supplier invoices per month which need:
- Matching invoices to our Purchase order information.
- Processing with Goods Received and delivery notes
- Once processed, post invoices on our ERP software package
- Reconcile processed invoices to Supplier Statements.
- Handling of discrepancies, variances, supplier enquiries and debit requests.
- Processing of other creditor lines such as credit card, fuel cards and staff expenses with similar process flows.
- Identify and collate gaps in monthly cost data for Accruals and Prepayments.
- Monthly tasks relating to inventory upkeep of software system data validation.
- Other ad-hoc duties that ensure smooth running of finance operations such as petty cash requests, opening and distributing business post etc.
- Assist in maintaining the time and attendance records, handling queries, and checking data on the biometric clocking system ahead of the weekly payroll for approximately 130 individuals
- Providing cover and assistance where necessary to other departments where appropriate
Qualifications
- Candidates with one year’s prior experience in a similar role will have an advantage but all applicants should understand the fundamentals of double entry.
- Highly numerate, with the ability to process documents at speed whilst maintaining good accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent level Excel skills, with good all-around understanding of IT and data systems.
- Comfortable in a dynamic environment where things are consistently evolving and keen to iterate and improve processes.
- AAT level 2 or equivalent qualification is desirable, but not a prerequisite.
- Able to lead by example in professional manner, keeping information confidential
