The Inspection Engineer is responsible for delivering the inspection programme, reporting, and recording of all plant and equipment within hazardous areas across distillation, spirit processing, and maturation facilities, in accordance with DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations) and COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) requirements.
The role focuses on ensuring the integrity, compliance, and safe operation of safety-critical equipment associated with flammable spirits and vapours. This includes primary containment systems (e.g. stills, pipework, tanks), cask racking structures within bonded warehouses, control, prevention and mitigation systems, and electrical, control, and instrumentation assets used in hazardous areas.
The Inspection Engineer plays a key role in preventing loss of containment, reducing fire and explosion risks, and maintaining regulatory compliance across all whisky production, storage, and handling operations.
