We are seeking a skilled and reliable 1st and 2nd Fix Joiner to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out both structural (1st fix) and finishing (2nd fix) joinery work to a high standard across residential and commercial projects. This role is ideal for an experienced joiner with a strong eye for detail, capable of delivering precise installations from initial framework through to final finishes.
Hourly rate dependant upon experience
Duties:
1st Fix Joinery
- Install structural timber elements including stud walls, floor joists, roof trusses, and door linings
- Fit staircases, framework, and subfloors in accordance with drawings and specifications
- Carry out carcassing work to prepare buildings for second fix stages
- Work from technical drawings to ensure accurate setting out and construction
2nd Fix Joinery
- Install internal doors, architraves, skirting boards, and ironmongery
- Fit kitchens, cabinetry, wardrobes, and other bespoke joinery items
- Complete finishing work to a high standard, ensuring clean and precise detailing
- Carry out final adjustments to ensure smooth operation and alignment of fixtures
General Responsibilities
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Interpret and work from technical drawings and site instructions
- Collaborate with site managers and other trades to ensure project timelines are met
- Maintain high standards of health and safety on-site at all times
- Keep work areas clean, organised, and hazard-free
- Carry out manual handling and heavy lifting safely when required
Experience
- Proven experience in both 1st fix (structural) and 2nd fix (finishing) joinery
- Strong knowledge of joinery techniques, materials, and installation methods
- Competent in using a wide range of hand and power tools
- Experience working on residential and/or commercial construction sites
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately
- Good understanding of site health and safety regulations
- CSCS card (preferred/required depending on role)
