Overview
We are seeking a professional and reliable Class 2 Truck Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting goods efficiently and safely across designated routes across the UK, ensuring timely deliveries. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for driving and experience in commercial transportation, particularly within flatbed operations. The ideal applicant will demonstrate strong organisational skills, adherence to safety regulations, and a commitment to customer service.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate flatbed lorries and other commercial vehicles to deliver goods to various locations.
- Plan routes effectively to optimise delivery times and fuel efficiency.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Secure cargo properly on flatbeds to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs in accordance with company policies.
- Communicate proactively with dispatchers regarding delivery schedules or any issues encountered en-route.
- Adhere strictly to all road safety laws and company policies during driving duties.
- Assist with loading and unloading cargo when necessary, ensuring proper handling techniques are followed.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, preferably with delivery driver experience specialising in flatbed operations.
- Clean valid driving licence suitable for operating light goods vehicles (LGV) or lorries.
- Licences for counterbalance & telehandler forklifts preferred, but not essential.
- Demonstrable knowledge of driving regulations and safety standards within the UK.
- Strong understanding of flatbed securing techniques and cargo safety procedures.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple deliveries.
- Physical fitness to handle loading/unloading tasks when required.
- Prior experience of handling and delivering architectural metalwork & steel products preferable, but not essential.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including early mornings or late shifts if necessary.
