We are a small firm doing predominantly publicly funded mental health, capacity and related work seeking a support paralegal to assist with legal aid cases, including liaising with the Legal Aid Agency, preparing case plans, billing and general case management. Other duties will include other document related work and occasional more general admin.
For those with particular skills and interest here is scope in future to progression to case work.
Key requirements are:
· The ability to quickly absorb and apply knowledge .
· The ability to produce clear, well written and persuasive written communications
· Good numeracy and IT skills
· A flexible and questioning outlook.
Previous experience or knowledge of legal aid or working in a legal environment would be an advantage
The position is open to a range of backgrounds including those who have a law degree or other qualifications.
The firm is rated by the legal aid agency as category 1 (excellent) in mental health law and has a wealth of experience in this and related fields and is able to provide good training and support.
The starting salary is based on the London Living Wage and this would be reviewed at regular intervals.
The role is part-time but exact hours are open to discussion.
