Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in financial management and accounting software, with a proven track record in financial services. This role offers an opportunity to lead accounting functions, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the organisation’s financial integrity and growth. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing complex financial processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting strategic decision-making through accurate financial reporting.
Duties
- Prepare, analyse, and review financial statements and reports in accordance with recognised accounting standards.
- Manage accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Maintain bookkeeping.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts.
- Prepare and submit VAT Returns.
- Handle bank reconciliations and supplier/customer reconciliations.
- Prepare year-end financial statements.
- Assist in accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Support the preparation of corporation tax working papers.
- Liaise with UK clients regarding accounting queries.
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and deadlines.
- Work on payroll processing (if required).
- Look into the HMRC Matters.
Requirements
- Proven experience in financial management within a corporate environment, ideally within the financial services sector.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, and other relevant systems.
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop team members effectively.
- Experience managing accounts payable functions with attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Strong analytical skills coupled with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Relevant professional qualifications such as ACCA or CIMA are preferred but not essential.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and continuously improve processes in a fast-paced environment.
Pay: £25,002.95-£56,419.86 per year
Work Location: In person
