Hotel Room Attendant – Apollo Hotel Birmingham
Part-time, on-site Hands-on housekeeping role in an independent hotel
Do you take pride in clean, tidy and welcoming spaces?
At Apollo Hotel Birmingham (126 bedrooms, conference & banqueting, minutes from the city centre), we’re looking for a Hotel Room Attendant to join our small, friendly, housekeeping team.
Because we’re an independently owned, single-site hotel, this is a genuinely hands-on, all-round role – you’ll play a key part in making sure every guest enjoys a clean, comfortable and pleasant stay.
What you’ll be doing
Working closely with the Housekeeping Supervisor and your colleagues, you will:
- Clean guest bedrooms and bathrooms to a high standard, including dusting, vacuuming, polishing and sanitising.
- Maintain public and common areas (corridors, stairways, etc.) so they are always clean, safe and presentable.
- Change and replenish bed linen, towels and guest amenities in line with hotel standards and checklists.
- Undertake regular deep-cleaning tasks (e.g. skirting boards, behind furniture, high-level dusting, descaling, spot cleaning carpets).
- Restock and maintain linen cupboards on a daily basis, keeping them tidy, organised and secure.
- Report any missing, damaged or faulty furniture, fixtures and equipment to the Housekeeping Supervisor and follow up to ensure issues are resolved.
- Check that all equipment in guest bedrooms (TV, lights, heating, etc.) and the tools you use are in good working order and report any defects.
- Dispose of waste and used items safely and correctly, in line with hotel guidelines.
- Handle guest requests (extra pillows, towels, amenities, etc.) in a friendly, timely and efficient manner.
- Comply with hotel security procedures, fire regulations and all Health & Safety requirements, including safe use of chemicals and equipment.
- Follow lost property procedures carefully, ensuring all items found are recorded and handed over correctly.
- Assist other departments (e.g. Reception or Food & Beverage) when needed, helping the hotel run smoothly as one team.
- Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and contribute to a positive, supportive working environment.
No two days are the same – rooms, guest requests and priorities can change, so you’ll need to stay organised and calm while keeping standards consistently high.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has a great eye for detail and enjoys being part of a busy hotel team.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Room Attendant / Housekeeper in a hotel or similar environment (training can be provided for the right candidate with the right attitude).
- A keen eye for detail and high personal standards for cleanliness and presentation.
- The ability to work efficiently and manage a busy workload, while still maintaining quality.
- Flexibility to work on any day of the week, including weekends and bank holidays, with early starts and/or late finishes as required.
- A friendly, professional manner when dealing with guests and colleagues.
- An understanding of basic Health & Safety and safe chemical use (or a willingness to learn and follow training carefully).
- Reliability, good timekeeping and a positive, “can-do” approach to work.
What we offer
- A part-time role in a well-established, busy 3-star independent hotel.
- Competitive pay (hourly rate depending on experience and skills).
- Performance-related bonus opportunities.
- Employee discounts on bedroom rates.
- Discounts on Food & Beverage in the hotel.
- Company pension scheme.
- Employee financial assistance scheme (details discussed at interview).
- Free uniform and on-the-job training.
- A supportive, close-knit team where you’re known by name, not a number, and where your contribution is noticed and appreciated every day.
Important information
- You must be able to prove your eligibility to live and work in the UK.
- Good references are essential.
- All information you provide will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
If this sounds like the right role for you and you’d like to be part of a friendly, independently owned hotel where your work directly shapes the guest experience, we’d love to hear from you.
