Miller Farm is home to 10 individuals aged between 50 and 90 who have learning disabilities or a dual diagnosis. Individuals have varied abilities and needs, some people have physical health needs, communication difficulties or may present with a level of complex needs.
We believe in a person centred approach that focuses on each individual’s unique goals and abilities to promote independence and enhance wellbeing. We are focused on creating an environment where people are happy to live and lead fulfilling lives.
Individuals require support with day-to-day living skills to help build their independence, structured routines and meaningful engagement. Full training is provided to staff to ensure active support is delivered in line with the people we support needs and preferences.
About the Role
As a Support Worker, you’ll be empowering adults with learning disabilities and other support needs to live with dignity, choice and independence. Every day will be different, and you’ll play a key role in helping people shape their own lives and experiences.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Supporting individuals based on their personal needs, including learning disabilities, physical health or mental health
· Providing guidance & encouragement through physical & emotional support
· Assisting with personal care, domestic tasks including cooking and cleaning and maintaining a safe, comfortable home environment
· Maintaining and helping with health care needs, including accompanying people to routine appointments or administrating medication
· Keeping accurate electronic records and contributing to personalised care and support plans
· Communicating effectively and respectfully with service users, families and external professionals
· Working in line with Freeways’ values, policies and procedures
This role involves flexible working, including evenings, weekends and sleep-in shifts.
