About the role:
We are seeking an organised and proactive Manager / Controller to oversee a fleet of Couriers contracted to undertake medical collections and deliveries.
This is a fast-paced operational role requiring strong leadership, excellent communication and the ability to co-ordinate time-sensitive healthcare logistics efficiently.
You will be responsible for day to day operation of the department and the induction and training of new couriers. You will also be required to monitor the work schedule within the department, to process paperwork effectively and accurately, and ensure all duties are carried out in line with the Courier Procedure Manual, and in line with standards defined by UKAS ISO15189:2022 and/or other regulatory body defined by the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the main point of contact for all courier and client queries.
- Co-ordinate and manage the daily scheduling of collections and deliveries using despatch software.
- Monitor operational performance and provide regular KPI reports.
- Attend operational meetings as required.
- Lead, Support and Motivate a team of couriers.
- Ensure all collections and deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and on time.
- Resolve operational issues quickly and effectively.
- Maintain high standards of Customer service and communication.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a Controller, Transport or Logistics Management role.
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft office application excel, and reporting systems.
- Solid Customer service and communication abilities, including objection handling.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience in motivating and leading teams.
Desirable:
- Experience within healthcare/medical logistics.
- Knowledge of KPI monitoring and operational analysis reporting
