Overview
Evolution Developments is looking for an experienced and motivated Carpentry Site Foreman to join our growing team. We specialise in delivering high-quality home extensions, loft conversions, dormer conversions, renovations, refurbishments, structural alterations, and bespoke residential construction projects across our operating areas.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, can confidently manage 1–2 live projects simultaneously, and has the organisational skills to keep projects running safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
You'll be responsible for leading site operations, supervising trades and subcontractors, coordinating daily activities, and maintaining the high standards our clients expect.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day running of one or two residential construction projects from start to completion.
- Lead all carpentry activities on site, ensuring work is completed to the highest standards.
- Supervise carpenters, subcontractors, and labourers, providing clear direction and maintaining productivity.
- Plan and coordinate site activities to ensure projects remain on programme and meet agreed deadlines.
- Monitor project budgets, labour allocation, and material usage to maximise efficiency and minimise waste.
- Read and interpret architectural drawings, structural details, and construction specifications.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Building Control, engineers, suppliers, and other trades to maintain smooth project delivery.
- Carry out regular quality inspections, ensuring all work meets company standards and client expectations.
- Enforce health and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with current legislation and company policies.
- Identify potential issues before they impact the programme and implement practical solutions.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily progress reports, labour hours, deliveries, and variations.
- Ensure sites remain organised, clean, and professional throughout each project.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Site Foreman, Lead Carpenter, or Site Supervisor within residential construction.
- Strong background in extensions, loft conversions, dormers, renovations, refurbishments, and structural alterations.
- Ability to manage 1–2 projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, programme, and client satisfaction.
- Excellent understanding of construction sequencing and residential building practices.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry methods, structural work, and finishing standards.
- Ability to read technical drawings and construction plans confidently.
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work to strict project timescales and agreed budgets.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Proactive problem-solving approach with strong attention to detail.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
- First Aid at Work certificate.
- Knowledge of Building Regulations and NHBC standards.
