Health & Safety Lead Officer – Warehouse

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Lead Officer to join our warehouse operations team. This role will be responsible for ensuring that health and safety standards are maintained across the site, supporting a safe working environment for all employees, visitors, and contractors.
The successful candidate will be a proactive and hands-on individual who understands the challenges of a busy warehouse environment and can work closely with operational teams to identify risks, improve processes, and promote a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of day-to-day health and safety matters across the warehouse.
- Carry out regular site inspections, safety checks, and audits to identify hazards and areas for improvement.
- Complete risk assessments and ensure appropriate actions are implemented.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are followed through.
- Maintain accurate health and safety records, reports, and documentation.
- Support warehouse managers and team leaders with health and safety guidance and best practices.
- Ensure warehouse activities are carried out safely, including manual handling, storage operations, equipment usage, and loading/unloading activities.
- Deliver health and safety inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions for employees.
- Monitor compliance with company policies and relevant health and safety legislation.
- Assist with emergency procedures, including fire safety and workplace safety arrangements.
- Identify opportunities to improve safety processes and reduce workplace risks.
- Work with management and employees to build a positive and proactive safety culture.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in a health and safety role within a warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or distribution environment.
- Good understanding of warehouse operations and the associated health and safety risks.
- Experience completing risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
- Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures and compliance requirements.
- Confident communicating with employees at all levels, from warehouse operatives to management.
- Ability to provide practical advice and support to operational teams.
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification preferred.
- IOSH Managing Safely or similar health and safety qualification would be advantageous.
- Additional warehouse safety or compliance qualifications are beneficial.

Role Development
As the business continues to grow, the responsibilities of this role may develop in line with operational requirements. The successful candidate will be expected to support ongoing improvements, new initiatives, and the continued development of health and safety standards across the organisation.
Pay: Up to £25,500.00 per year
