Working across Calderdale the Neighbourhood Teams deliver a range of initiatives building resilient and cohesive communities, The teams work in partnership with other services and the community to develop and deliver projects and interventions that improve satisfaction with local areas and promote active citizenship.
As a key part of the team, the Community Wardens link across the borough, acting as a highly visible presence, within neighbourhood areas. They link to all sections of the community, working in partnership with other council services, partner agencies including Police, Fire & Rescue Service, local groups and organisations.
Wardens seek to improve the wellbeing of local residents, and make their neighbourhoods safer, cleaner and more enjoyable places in which to live. They visit schools, local businesses and liaise closely with other agencies and departments within the borough to try to solve problems in the community as quickly and efficiently as possible.
As part of the council’s wider enforcement team the community wardens engage with communities to encourage positive behaviours and compliance around a number of issues such as environmental blight; including fly tipping, waste accumulations, littering, dog fouling and other community safety concerns.
