Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home

About the Role
We are recruiting an experienced and committed Registered Manager to lead an Ofsted-registered children’s residential home based in Sway, Hampshire.
The Registered Manager will be responsible for the overall day-to-day management of the home, ensuring it operates in accordance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, the associated Quality Standards, safeguarding requirements and the home’s Statement of Purpose.
This is a key leadership position with responsibility for ensuring children and young people receive high-quality, child-centred care that meets their physical, emotional and developmental needs.
You will lead and develop the staff team, maintain high standards of professional practice and create a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where children and young people are encouraged to achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Management
- Provide effective leadership and oversight of all operations within the children’s home.
- Take responsibility for the effective day-to-day management of the service.
- Ensure the home meets all Ofsted requirements and works towards achieving and maintaining a Good or Outstanding rating.
- Lead and manage the staff team, including recruitment, supervision, appraisals and professional development.
- Take responsibility for all adults working within or from the children’s home.
- Promote a positive and inclusive culture where children feel safe, supported and empowered.
- Maintain high standards of professional practice in accordance with legislation, organisational policies and the home’s procedures.
- Ensure high levels of emotional and physical care are consistently provided.
- Ensure appropriate activities, comfortable accommodation and effective key-working arrangements are planned and delivered in line with each child’s needs.
- Ensure the home operates in accordance with its Statement of Purpose.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure the home operates in full compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and all other relevant legislation.
- Maintain up-to-date policies, procedures and risk assessments.
- Ensure the home remains compliant and prepared for Ofsted inspection.
- Complete and submit required notifications, reports and documentation to Ofsted and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Maintain effective systems for monitoring the quality and safety of the service.
- Manage safeguarding concerns appropriately and liaise with the organisation’s Designated Safeguarding Lead where required.
- Ensure safeguarding and child protection remain central to all practice within the home.
Care Planning & Outcomes
- Oversee the development and implementation of individual care plans for each child and young person.
- Ensure care and support are tailored to each child’s individual needs, circumstances and development.
- Monitor outcomes for children and young people and ensure they receive the support required to reach their full potential.
- Ensure children’s wishes, feelings and views are heard and reflected in the support they receive.
- Work collaboratively with social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals, families and other agencies involved in each child’s care.
- Promote stability, positive relationships and meaningful progress for the children living within the home.
Budgeting & Resource Management
- Manage the home’s budget effectively and responsibly.
- Ensure organisational expenditure is appropriately recorded and accounted for.
- Use resources efficiently to meet the needs of the children and young people.
- Ensure the home provides a safe, comfortable and homely environment.
- Maintain appropriate staffing and resources to support the effective running of the service.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should have:
- A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or a willingness to complete this qualification.
- A minimum of two years’ experience working within a residential setting during the last five years.
- At least one year’s experience in a supervisory or management role within a children’s residential home.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
- Strong understanding of Ofsted regulatory requirements and the Children’s Homes Regulations.
- The ability to successfully register as a manager with Ofsted.
Desirable Experience
It would be advantageous to have:
- Previous experience successfully managing a children’s home to a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating.
- Experience or training within therapeutic care.
- A valid UK driving licence.

Pay: £50,751.30-£55,000.00 per year
