Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Technician to join our maintenance team. Monday - Friday 8am-4pm
The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to ensure optimal performance and safety standards. Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on HGVs, including engines, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems
- Diagnose faults using schematics and diagnostic tools, then perform necessary repairs or replacements
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to carry out repairs efficiently
- Repair and maintain auxiliary equipment such as excavators and forklifts as needed
- Perform heavy lifting tasks safely while adhering to health and safety regulations
- Assist with the installation of electrical systems and wiring in vehicles
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, parts used, and service history for each vehicle
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair status clearly and professionally
Requirements
- Proven experience in vehicle maintenance or repair, specifically with heavy goods vehicles (HGVs)
- Electrical experience including wiring diagrams and electrical system troubleshooting
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and equipment repair techniques
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a physically demanding environment
- Experience working with specialised machinery such as forklifts is advantageous
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and diagnostics
- Good customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients and team members
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in vehicle maintenance or engineering are desirable
