Based at Little Catwick quarry, you’ll never be short of a challenge in this vast site operation. We’re looking for someone who turns up ready to work and gets stuck in from the moment they arrive on site. Someone who measures a good day by what they’ve achieved on the ground and how much they have supported the team being able to carry out their jobs. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fitter to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the assembly, and maintenance of structures and components in a quarry environment. Your hands-on skills and experience will contribute to the successful completion of projects on time and to high standards in a busy environment.
Proven experience across a range of tasks including;
- Carry out welding and fabrication work on heavy plant equipment – essential.
- Replace and install bearings as required – essential.
- Service, maintain, and repair crushers, screeners, and associated machinery.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on pumps and pumping systems.
- Fabricate and manufacture replacement parts when required.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on heavy plant equipment.
- Demonstrate initiative by identifying maintenance requirements and proactively planning and completing repairs.
- Wash plant maintenance and operational knowledge is preferred.
- Work safely and efficiently to minimise equipment downtime and maintain production.
Also important is;
· A practical, can-do attitude — no job too big or too small.
· Quarry experience desirable but not essential.
· An understanding of health and safety requirements on site.
· Happy working in the outdoors, whatever the weather or conditions of the ground.
· A team player who looks out for the people around them.
· Mentoring skills (trainee in position).
· Additional plant experience (tractor, dumper, etc.) is always a bonus.
