About the Role
Imperium Sport Ltd is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and qualified Athletics Coach to join the coaching team at Barnet Southgate College.
Based at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre, the Barnet Southgate College athletics academy has been established for over 15 years and has a strong track record of developing athletes at all levels — from grassroots participants and beginners through to national champions and international athletes.
We are looking for an additional coach to deliver athletics coaching to our 16–19 year-old students on Tuesdays, 2:15–4:15pm during term time.
This is an excellent opportunity for a coach who enjoys working with young people and wants to be part of an established programme with a strong athlete-development pathway.
Coaching Areas
We are particularly interested in coaches with experience in one or more of the following:
- Sprints
- Jumps
- Throws
- Multi-events
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality athletics coaching sessions
- Support the technical, physical and overall development of student athletes
- Motivate and inspire 16–19 year-olds to participate and progress
- Create a positive, professional and inclusive training environment
- Support athletes with different levels of ability and experience
- Work effectively as part of a wider coaching team
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, safety and athlete welfare
- Encourage student participation and contribute positively to the academy environment
Essential Requirements
- Current athletics coaching qualification, or currently working towards an appropriate qualification
- Positive, enthusiastic and motivating approach to working with young people
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, punctual and professional
- Ability to work independently and as part of a coaching team
- Willingness to complete relevant safeguarding, DBS and compliance training
Desirable
- Previous experience coaching athletes aged 16–19
- Experience coaching athletes across different ability levels
- Strength & Conditioning experience or qualifications
- Multi-event coaching experience
- First Aid qualification
- Experience working in an educational or youth environment

You will be joining an established programme with an experienced coaching environment, while having the opportunity to make a real difference to the sporting development, confidence and experience of 16–19-year-old students.
The role would suit an experienced athletics coach looking for additional coaching hours, as well as a developing coach looking to gain valuable experience working with young athletes.
