Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled In-House Property Handy Person to oversee and maintain the organisation’s residential properties located in East London.
Proven experience in a similar property maintenance, caretaking, or hands-on handyman role is a requirement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Basic Plumbing: Repair dripping taps, unblock sinks/drains, fix running toilets, and replace faulty washers or radiator valves.
- Basic Electrics: Safely replace light fittings, switches, sockets, and extractor fans (must have basic multimeters/testing knowledge).
- Basic Carpentry: Hang/adjust internal doors, repair skirting boards, assemble flat-pack furniture, and install shelving or kitchen cabinets.
- General Property Upkeep: Patch drywall, fill cracks, replace sealant/grout in bathrooms, and touch-up interior/exterior painting.
- Compliance & Checks: Perform routine property inspections (e.g., checking smoke/CO alarms) and prepare vacant properties for fast, high-quality tenant turnarounds.
- Contractor Management: Identify issues that require fully certified external professionals (e.g., Gas Safe engineers, certified electricians) and assist them on-site when necessary.
What We Are Looking For:
- A versatile, multi-skilled worker with a practical approach to problem-solving.
- Strong communication skills to liaise professionally with tenants and office management.
- Full UK Driving License (Company vehicle or travel allowance provided).
- Basic understanding of UK landlord compliance and safety regulations is a distinct advantage.
