We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across various locations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers with a focus on commercial driving, delivering high standards of service and compliance with road safety regulations. The position involves operating flatbed lorries and ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining the highest levels of safety and professionalism.
Duties
- Operate HGV Class 1 lorries, including flatbed vehicles, in accordance with legal and company standards
- Conduct pre-journey checks to ensure vehicle safety and roadworthiness
- Safely load, secure, and unload goods, ensuring proper handling and adherence to safety protocols
- Deliver goods to designated locations within specified timeframes, maintaining punctuality
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery notes and logbooks
- Follow all traffic laws and company policies during transportation activities
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and warehouse teams regarding delivery schedules and issues
- Maintain the cleanliness and good condition of the vehicle throughout shifts
Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 licence with a clean driving record
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly as a delivery driver
- Knowledge of flatbed operations and securing loads safely
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety and compliance with road regulations
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks such as loading and unloading goods
- Good organisational skills to manage delivery schedules efficiently
- Flexibility to work various shifts as required, including early mornings or late evenings if necessary
- Prior experience with delivery routes is desirable but not essential; training will be provided where needed
