Role Overview
We are recruiting for an experienced Shift Manager to join a growing food manufacturing business on the AM shift.
This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for the day-to-day performance of a production team, ensuring targets are achieved while maintaining high standards of food safety, product quality, Health & Safety and customer service.
The successful candidate will be a confident people manager with previous food manufacturing experience, strong problem-solving abilities and the motivation to drive team performance and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the production team.
- Plan workloads, allocate resources and ensure production targets are achieved.
- Set clear team objectives and monitor performance against KPIs.
- Provide leadership, guidance, coaching and support to team members.
- Drive team engagement, motivation and performance.
- Identify and resolve operational issues quickly and effectively.
- Support employees with day-to-day concerns and workplace issues.
- Manage team performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Supervise, train and develop team members.
- Promote effective communication across the team and wider business.
- Manage timesheets and time-off requests using the company’s time management system.
- Maintain a positive, collaborative and professional working environment.
- Address interpersonal issues and support effective conflict resolution.
- Promote a strong culture of teamwork, quality and accountability.
- Ensure food safety, product quality and brand integrity standards are maintained.
- Ensure Health & Safety procedures are understood and followed.
- Work closely with other departments to achieve business objectives.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within a food manufacturing environment is essential.
- Previous managerial or team leadership experience.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and manage a team.
- Strong understanding of production targets and KPI management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet demanding targets.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety and food manufacturing standards.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
