Company Description
Obsidian Technologies Limited is the technology and people business at the centre of the Obsidian group, providing the platform, infrastructure and staff that support the group's financial services operations. Employees of Obsidian Technologies Limited work across the Obsidian group, including on SIPP administration, applying deep industry expertise to deliver accurate, well-controlled outcomes for advisers and pension scheme members. We look for people who bring strong critical thinking, collaborate well, and are motivated by continuous improvement in a growing, detail-focused environment.
Role Description
The SIPP Operations Specialist is a full-time, permanent, hybrid role responsible for managing the day-to-day administration of Self-Invested Personal Pension (SIPP) accounts on behalf of the Obsidian group. The role includes processing new SIPP applications, transfers, contributions, drawdown and death benefits, while ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies. The specialist will perform trustee-side reconciliations, monitor transactions, and resolve operational issues promptly, working closely with advisers, pension scheme members, and internal teams. Daily tasks also involve maintaining detailed records, updating systems, and supporting project-based improvements to SIPP processes and workflows. The role requires proactive identification of operational risks, clear communication of complex information — including to committee and board-level audiences — and consistent delivery of high-quality service. Working closely with the Head of Operations, the specialist will support the development of operational procedures, testing of system enhancements, and implementation of process improvements as the business grows.

- Ability to work autonomously without day-to-day supervision, managing workload against SLAs and exercising sound operational judgement on when to escalate.
- Ability to contribute clearly to governance reporting, including preparing MI, root cause analysis, and escalation summaries for committee and board-level audiences.
