Electrician

Our Electricians receive:
- Up to £21.78 depending on experience (£43,562.50 annually)
- Fixed 40 hours per week
- 20 days holiday a year + BH’s

The Electrician's Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Electrician to primarily carry out Periodic EICRS as well as routine repairs and responding to emergencies as part of our out of hours team. Our Electricians will need to ensure excellent quality of work as well as outstanding levels of customer service.
Feedback of information will be required to management using paperwork/PDA/Android. Our Electricians must follow company/client processes and policies whilst working in a safe manner in accordance with the NICEIC, HSE guidelines.
- Carry out Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) in social housing properties.
- Complete electrical inspection and testing in occupied, void and communal residential properties where required.
- Identify defects, non-compliances and potential electrical safety issues.
- Carry out remedial electrical works where required and within competency.
- Complete periodic inspection and testing in accordance with current regulations and industry standards.
- Accurately record test results and produce certification using the company's electronic systems.
- Carry out remedial works arising from failed or unsatisfactory inspections.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with current BS 7671, health & safety requirements and client specifications.
- Liaise professionally with residents, housing officers, supervisors and client representatives.
- Provide clear explanations to residents where access, electrical safety or remedial works need to be discussed.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used and follow-on requirements.
- Manage daily appointments and workload efficiently to meet contractual targets.
- Report any safeguarding, property or health and safety concerns identified while working in residents' homes.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools and test equipment to the required standard.
Essential
- Fully qualified electrician with relevant electrical qualifications.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
- 2391 Inspection & Testing, or equivalent recognised inspection and testing qualification.
- Proven experience carrying out EICRs and electrical testing.
- Experience working within domestic properties.
- Good knowledge of current electrical regulations and testing procedures.
- Able to accurately diagnose faults and identify remedial requirements.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a busy workload.
- Good IT skills and confidence using mobile/tablet-based systems.
Desirable
- Experience working on social housing or housing association contracts.
- Experience working in occupied properties.
- Experience with communal electrical systems.
- Experience of completing remedial works following EICRs.
- Familiarity with housing compliance requirements and client-specific electrical standards.
- Asbestos awareness.
- Health & safety qualifications.
- Experience using electronic certification or job management systems.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is test-and-inspection focused, rather than purely installation focused.
You will take pride in producing accurate EICRs, identifying electrical defects correctly and ensuring properties are left safe and compliant. You will also be comfortable carrying out minor remedial works and fault finding when required.
Because the role involves working in residents' homes, you must be professional, courteous and respectful at all times. Previous social housing experience would be highly advantageous.
