Holty Paws & Hooves is a family-run pet care business established in 2018. We have built our reputation on providing professional, reliable and enrichment-focused dog walking services, always putting the welfare of the dogs first.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for another self-employed subcontractor dog walker to join our team.
Who are we looking for?
Someone who genuinely loves dogs.
Someone who understands that caring for other people's dogs is both a privilege and a responsibility.
Someone who wants to become a trusted and familiar part of our dogs' lives rather than simply take them for a walk.
Previous professional dog handling experience is welcome, but it is not essential. We are happy to train the right person.
What matters most is your attitude, reliability, willingness to learn and genuine passion for dogs.
What makes Holty Paws & Hooves different?
- We specialise in small, carefully managed group walks, typically around 4 compatible dogs.

What you'll need
- To be over 18 years of age.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Your own fully insured vehicle with current MOT and tax.
- A vehicle capable of safely transporting multiple dogs on seats using harnesses and tethers.
- To live within approximately 5 miles of this area.
- Excellent reliability and timekeeping.
- A positive, caring attitude.
- Confidence working independently.
- A genuine love of dogs.
The reality of the role
This role involves:
- Early starts.
- Walking in all weather conditions.
- Muddy dogs.
- Muddy cars.
- Physical work.
- Managing multiple dogs safely.
- Making sensible decisions under pressure.
- Maintaining professional standards at all times.
Many people think they would love this type of work.
The reality is that professionally caring for other people's dogs requires commitment, resilience, responsibility and excellent judgement.
What you'll do
- Collect dogs from their homes.
- Transport them safely to suitable walking locations.
- Conduct small group walks.
- Provide enrichment, interaction and engagement throughout each walk.
- Return dogs safely and happily home.
- Represent Holty Paws & Hooves professionally at all times.
We currently walk dogs Monday through to Friday, typically 2–3 walks per day.
This can vary seasonally due to school holidays, client demand and team availability.
Earnings
This is a self-employed subcontractor role.
Group walks are currently paid at £9.00 per dog, with other services and variations paid on an agreed percentage basis.
Training and support
Successful applicants will receive one-to-one shadowing and practical training alongside an experienced member of our team.
We invest significant time helping new walkers understand our standards, procedures and safe working practices before they take responsibility for dogs independently.
Applicants will also need to obtain:
- A Basic DBS check (at their own expense)
- Pet First Aid certification (at their own expense)
