We're hiring on behalf of our client, who are seeking a skilled Fabricator / TIG Welder to join their manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and welding high-quality metal components to engineering drawings and specifications. This role requires excellent attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Fabricate metal components using a range of workshop machinery and hand tools.
- Perform high-quality TIG welding on stainless steel, aluminium, and mild steel.
- Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, deburring, and finishing as required.
- Assemble fabricated components to precise tolerances.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and customer specifications.
- Carry out repairs and modifications to existing fabrications.
- Maintain welding equipment and workshop tools in good working condition.
- Follow health and safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE.
- Keep work areas clean, organised, and safe.
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and colleagues to meet production schedules.
Skills and ExperienceEssential
- Proven experience as a Fabricator and TIG Welder.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong TIG welding skills with high-quality finish standards.
- Experience fabricating stainless steel, aluminium, and mild steel.
- Competent in using fabrication equipment, including guillotines, press brakes, grinders, and drills.
- Excellent attention to detail and workmanship.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
Desirable
- Relevant welding or fabrication qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2/3, or equivalent).
- MIG welding experience.
- Experience working within manufacturing or bespoke fabrication environments.
- Forklift or overhead crane certification.
