Job Summary:
As a Customer Sales Assistant at Tickled Trout Services – BP, you will be the face of our forecourt and convenience store, delivering excellent service to every customer. You'll handle fuel transactions, retail purchases, stock management, and help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet all customers promptly and professionally.
- Assist customers with purchases, queries, and fuel transactions.
- Handle complaints calmly and effectively, escalating when needed.
Sales Transactions:
- Operate the till efficiently, handling cash and card transactions.
- Upsell promotional items and loyalty schemes when appropriate.
- Ensure accurate pricing and scanning of all products.
Forecourt Duties:
- Monitor fuel pumps and ensure safe usage by customers.
- Maintain forecourt cleanliness and safety, including clearing spills and reporting hazards.
- Report issues to the site manager.
Store Presentation:
- Replenish shelves and fridges to maintain stock levels and presentation standards.
- Rotate stock and check for expired products.
- Clean and tidy the shop floor, backroom, and customer restrooms.
Health & Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety procedures, especially those related to fuel handling.
- Ensure age-restricted sales (e.g., tobacco, alcohol) comply with legal guidelines.
- Maintain knowledge of emergency procedures and store security protocols.
Skills and Experience:
- Previous customer service or retail experience preferred but not essential (full training provided).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive, flexible approach to work and willingness to work varied shifts (early, late, weekends, holidays).
Working Conditions:
- Standing for long periods.
- Exposure to outdoor conditions while on the forecourt.
