About the Role
Garage Mobile UK Services Ltd is seeking an experienced and highly organised Senior Workshop Operations Coordinator to oversee the daily coordination of workshop activities, vehicle-service schedules, technicians, parts, customer bookings, and operational documentation.
The successful candidate will ensure that repair and maintenance work is planned efficiently, completed within agreed timescales, and delivered in accordance with company quality and safety standards. You will act as a central point of communication between customers, service advisors, technicians, suppliers, and management.
This role is suited to a senior automotive professional with strong workshop coordination, customer-service, scheduling, and operational problem-solving experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the daily schedule of vehicle servicing, repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance work
- Allocate jobs to technicians according to workload, skills, availability, and priority
- Monitor workshop capacity, job progress, turnaround times, and outstanding work
- Ensure technicians receive complete job cards, customer instructions, and vehicle information
- Liaise with service advisors regarding bookings, estimates, approvals, and completion dates
- Provide customers with accurate updates on vehicle progress and expected collection times
- Review repair requirements and coordinate additional customer authorisations where necessary
- Arrange the ordering and availability of parts, tools, and workshop materials
- Coordinate with suppliers to manage deliveries, back orders, and urgent requirements
- Identify delays, operational issues, and resource constraints
- Take corrective action to minimise disruption and maintain service commitments
- Check that completed work is properly documented before vehicle release
- Support quality-control inspections and ensure concerns are addressed promptly
- Maintain accurate records of jobs, technician hours, parts usage, and vehicle status
- Monitor workshop productivity, efficiency, utilisation, and service-performance indicators
- Prepare operational reports for management
- Support the handling of warranty work, repeat repairs, and customer complaints
- Ensure workshop activities comply with health and safety requirements
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and equipment control
- Coordinate mobile technicians and off-site service appointments where required
- Support the onboarding, training, and daily guidance of junior coordinators and service staff
- Contribute to improvements in workshop systems, scheduling, and customer-service processes
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in automotive servicing, workshop coordination, aftersales, or a related operational role
- Previous experience coordinating technicians, repair schedules, and customer bookings
- Strong understanding of vehicle servicing, maintenance, repair, and diagnostic processes
- Ability to interpret job cards, repair estimates, service requirements, and technical information
- Experience managing workshop capacity, priorities, deadlines, and workflow
- Strong customer-service and communication skills
- Ability to resolve operational problems calmly and efficiently
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of labour, parts, and service costs
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage several jobs and priorities simultaneously
- Proficiency in workshop-management systems, customer databases, and Microsoft Office
- Professional written and spoken English
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Experience
- Automotive technical qualification or recognised industry certification
- Previous experience in a senior workshop, service, or aftersales position
- Experience within an independent garage, dealership, fleet-services company, or mobile repair business
- Familiarity with vehicle diagnostic systems and digital job-management platforms
- Experience coordinating mobile technicians or roadside-service teams
- Knowledge of warranty procedures and manufacturer service standards
- Experience monitoring workshop performance and productivity
- Understanding of MOT processes and vehicle roadworthiness requirements
- Experience supervising or mentoring operational staff
Pay: £34,000.00-£46,000.00 per year
