We are looking for female support worker for night shifts, to assist with the care of a young woman who has suffered a traumatic brain injury and moving to her home in gosforth
HOURS
- 12 hour night shifts - 8pm til 8am mixture of waking and sleeping night shifts.
- must be able to work alternative weekends
- We have full time position available
SHIFT PATTERN
- Waking night 20.00-08.00 paid at £14 per hour.
- Sleeping night shift: Shift starts at 20.00 awake until 23.15. Asleep 23.15-06.30 then awake 06.30-08.00. Waking night paid at £14 per hour, sleeping night rate £12.71 per hour.
You must be a confident driver as the client has their own vehicle.
The post will require the successful applicant to build a strong relationship with her, and also require you to provide support with hands on personal care, engage in some therapeutic activities, and provide emotional support and companionship. The main role during the night is to monitor the client to ensure her clinical safety whilst asleep and administer medications.
It is very important that the person delivering this support is patient and willing to get to know the young woman well, is someone who can work collaboratively with all the team members. Excellent relationships with this young woman’s mum will also be essential which will help to gain insight to what her daughter would like to do, and the best way to support her. The young woman in question is currently unable to communicate verbally so it is critical that the person appointed is has some experience of individuals with complex needs, can use their initiative and is able to demonstrate compassion and patience.
The ideal candidate will be reliable, open, honest, willing to learn, have good communication skills (both written and verbal), is a good listener and will possess a blend of practical skills and emotional intelligence with a sense of positivity, encouragement, empathy, and fun. We are looking for people who can demonstrate a strong professionalism and would relish the opportunity to make a very positive impact in the life of this young woman.
