Job Purpose
To provide high-quality commercial legal advice and support to the Local Authority and its partner District Councils. The role will focus on contracts, procurement, and commercial matters, ensuring legal compliance while supporting the delivery of key projects and services across the organisation.
- Provide specialist legal advice on commercial contracts, procurement, and related legal matters.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a wide range of commercial agreements.
- Support the delivery of procurement exercises, framework agreements, and collaborative procurement projects.
- Provide legal advice on construction projects and subsidy control matters.
- Ensure all legal work complies with relevant legislation, regulations, and Local Authority governance requirements.
- Work closely with client departments and partner District Councils, providing practical and commercially focused legal solutions.
- Manage a varied caseload, ensuring work is delivered accurately and within agreed timescales.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Keep up to date with changes in legislation and case law affecting commercial and procurement matters.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of legal services and support the wider Legal team as required.
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with a minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Significant experience in commercial contracts and procurement law.
- Previous Local Government experience is highly desirable.
- Experience advising on framework agreements, construction projects, collaborative procurements, and subsidy control is desirable.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload independently while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative legal team.
- Location: Remote working with occasional office attendance in Lincolnshire as required.
- Hours per week: 37 hours.
- Bi-Weekly Payments: Payments made every two weeks.
