Master Technician / Senior Vehicle Technician
Salary: Up to £65,000 per year, depending on experience
Hours: 40 hours per week
Location: TAS Garages
Start date: Immediate
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Master Technician or Senior Vehicle Technician to join our growing independent workshop.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking more than just another technician role. You will work closely with the owner and our MOT tester, helping to organise the workshop and ensure it runs effectively.
You will initially join a small, close-knit team, so we need someone who is confident, proactive and ready to take ownership of their work.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on a wide range of vehicles.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults.
- Help organise and manage the workshop’s day-to-day workflow.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance to ensure vehicles and equipment perform reliably.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and customer service.
- Accurately document all completed work, including job cards, inspection reports and supporting paperwork.
- Liaise with the office team to communicate estimates, repairs, parts requirements and customer updates clearly and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Support the continued growth and development of the business.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience as a Vehicle Technician, Senior Technician or Master Technician.
- Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Strong mechanical knowledge across a wide range of vehicles.
- The ability to work independently and take responsibility for workshop organisation.
- A positive attitude and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with the service adviser, workshop colleagues and customers.
- The ability to explain vehicle faults, recommended repairs and technical information clearly to customers.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail, particularly when completing technical documentation and maintenance records.
- Experience in teaching, mentoring or training others would be highly desirable.
- A Class 4 and 7 MOT testing licence would be a significant advantage, as it would enable you to provide MOT cover when required. However, this is not essential, and we are happy to put the right candidate through MOT training.
What we offer
- A salary of up to £65,000 per year for the right candidate.
- A 40-hour working week.
- An immediate start, if required.
- The opportunity to become a key member of the business and help shape the workshop’s future.
- A friendly, supportive environment where your experience and ideas will be valued.
If you’re an experienced technician looking for a role in which you can make a real difference and grow alongside the business, we’d love to hear from you.
