Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Crane Driver to operate cranes and other heavy machinery within our waste disposal and warehouse facilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, experience with various types of lifting equipment, and a solid understanding of materials handling procedures. This role involves working in dynamic environments, ensuring safety and efficiency in all lifting operations. The successful applicant will contribute to the smooth execution of construction, shipping, and receiving activities, supporting our commitment to high standards of safety and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Operate cranes, including, mobile cranes, and specialised lifting equipment, ensuring precise handling of materials.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance checks on crane machinery to ensure operational safety.
- Assist with materials handling tasks such as loading and unloading lorries, stacking goods, and organising stock within warehouses or construction sites.
- Use forklift trucks, excavators, and other plant machinery as required for various logistical operations.
- Support shipping and receiving processes by accurately moving goods between storage areas and transportation vehicles.
- Follow all health and safety regulations during crane operation and materials handling activities.
- Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate lifts and ensure smooth workflow on-site.
- Maintain detailed records of crane usage, inspections, and maintenance activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating cranes in construction or warehouse environments.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to crane operation, forklift driving, excavators, and other heavy machinery.
- Valid commercial driving licence with relevant endorsements for operating heavy vehicles or specialised equipment.
- Experience with materials handling, shipping & receiving procedures, and warehouse operations.
- Strong understanding of health and safety standards related to heavy machinery operation.
- Construction experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in inspection logs and operational documentation.
