Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Service & Tabletop Guidance
- Warm Welcomes: Greet every customer entering the store and foster an inclusive, friendly environment.
- Game Recommendations: Match shoppers with games based on play style, experience level, and group size.
- RPG Support: Help players and Dungeon Masters navigate rulebooks, dice, miniatures, and campaign guides.
- Demos & Mechanics: Explain core game rules clearly and simply, running quick in-store game demos when appropriate.
2. Retail Operations & Stock
- Till Operations: Accurately process cash/card transactions, handle customer refunds, and balance registers at the end of shifts.
- Stock Management: Unpack, price-tag, shelf, and display stock deliveries according to store guidelines.
- Inquiries & Communications: Answer customer questions in-store, over the phone, and support store social media projects.
- Store Security: Stay vigilant on the shop floor to prevent theft and report any issues or stock discrepancies to supervisors.
3. Community & Store Standards
- Events & Tournaments: Assist with organising and maintaining the smooth running of in-store gaming events and tournaments.
- Cleanliness & Maintenance: Keep the store immaculate for players and shoppers. Duties include daily shop floor tidying, clearing gaming tables, vacuuming, and maintaining staff/customer facilities.
What We’re Looking ForEssential Requirements
- Tabletop Passion: A strong background or genuine enthusiasm for board games, RPGs, or tabletop hobbies.
- Approachability: Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex rules in a simple, "rules-light" way.
- Flexibility: Must be available for weekend shifts and evening event coverage.
- Team Player: Confident, polite, proactive, and comfortable interacting with members of the public.
- Education: GCSE (or equivalent) in English & Maths.
- Physical Capability: Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting stock boxes during deliveries.
Bonus Points For:
- Experience running tabletop RPG campaigns (Game Master / Dungeon Master experience).
- Background in teaching games at local clubs, cafes, or conventions.
- Familiarity with Trading Card Games (e.g., Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, Lorcana) or Miniature Wargames (Warhammer 40k).
