Baa Bar Group – Liverpool Part-Time – 2 Days per Week £200–£300 per day, depending on experience Employed or self-employed / consultant arrangements considered
About Baa Bar Group
Baa Bar Group is an established Liverpool hospitality group operating three distinct venues across the city — Baa Bar, DeLuca’s and Frederiks.
We are a growing, high-performing independent business with a strong identity and ambitious plans for the future. As we continue to develop the group, we are investing in our people, our managers and the systems that support them.
We are now looking for an experienced People Partner to work alongside our Managing Director, Chair, Operations team and venue management teams to help us build a stronger, more consistent and engaging place to work.
The Role
This is a hands-on People role for someone who enjoys working closely with managers, developing people and creating practical HR structure.
You will act as a trusted partner to our management teams across the group, supporting them with everything from employee relations and performance management through to recruitment, engagement, development and culture.
This is not a heavily administrative HR role and we are not looking to introduce unnecessary corporate processes.
We want someone who can understand the realities of a fast-moving hospitality business and introduce simple, effective people systems that help managers manage better and teams perform at their best.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will work across a broad People agenda, including:
Supporting & Developing Managers
- Partner with General Managers and senior managers across our venues.
- Coach managers through people issues, performance conversations and difficult situations.
- Help managers become more confident, accountable and consistent in how they lead their teams.
- Introduce clear and practical one-to-one, probation and performance-review processes.
- Support the development of deputies, managers and future leaders.
Employee Relations & HR Support
- Provide confident, practical advice on disciplinary, grievance, absence and capability matters.
- Ensure employee relations cases are handled fairly, consistently and in line with UK employment law.
- Support managers with documentation, investigations and formal processes where required.
- Maintain strong HR compliance across contracts, policies, Right to Work, GDPR and statutory requirements.
Recruitment, Talent & Progression
- Support recruitment for key management and operational roles.
- Improve the candidate journey and strengthen Baa Bar Group’s reputation as an employer.
- Identify internal talent and help create clearer progression opportunities.
- Develop practical succession plans for key roles across the business.
- Help us retain great people and develop more of our future managers internally.
Culture, Engagement & Recognition
- Help us build a culture where great performance is recognised and celebrated.
- Develop simple recognition and engagement initiatives that teams genuinely value.
- Run employee surveys and pulse checks and turn feedback into visible action.
- Strengthen communication between leadership, managers and venue teams.
- Help create a stronger sense of belonging, pride and shared success across the group.
People Strategy & Improvement
- Work with the Managing Director and leadership team to develop and deliver our People Plan.
- Review existing HR processes and identify where improvements are needed.
- Help clarify roles, responsibilities and management expectations.
- Introduce practical People KPIs covering areas such as retention, engagement, absence, recruitment and training.
- Provide clear People insight and recommendations to senior leadership.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is experienced enough to operate independently but still enjoys being close to the day-to-day operation.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as an HR Manager, People Partner, HR Business Partner or Senior HR Advisor.
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law.
- Experience handling disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance-management matters.
- Experience coaching and supporting operational managers.
- A pragmatic, commercially minded approach to HR.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence working independently and influencing senior leaders.
- The ability to balance supporting people with maintaining clear standards and accountability.
Experience within hospitality, retail, leisure or another multi-site / shift-based environment would be highly advantageous.
CIPD Level 5 or above is desirable but not essential.
The Person
We want someone who is:
- Practical – you create solutions that work in the real world.
- Warm but firm – you care about people while maintaining high standards.
- Commercial – you understand that good People decisions need to support the performance of the business.
- Credible – managers trust your advice and judgement.
- Proactive – you identify issues and opportunities rather than waiting to be asked.
- Positive – you want to help build a culture people enjoy being part of.
- Discreet and trustworthy – you will regularly handle confidential and sensitive matters.
Working Arrangements
This is a part-time role of approximately two days per week.
The role will primarily involve working across our Liverpool venues, alongside our managers and leadership team, with flexibility for some project, reporting and preparation work to be completed remotely.
We are happy to consider either an employed arrangement or an experienced self-employed / consultant People Partner.
There may occasionally be value in attending an evening or event to understand the operation, but this is not a late-night operational role.
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to have a genuine impact within an established independent hospitality group.
You will have the freedom to shape how we approach People across the business without layers of corporate bureaucracy.
You will work directly with the senior leadership team, support managers across three very different venues and help us build the people foundations required for the next stage of Baa Bar Group’s development.
If you are a commercially minded People professional who enjoys developing managers, improving culture and turning HR into something practical and useful, we would love to hear from you.
Pay: £200.00-£300.00 per day
