Rutledge Recruitment is currently seeking Production Operatives with knife skills and boning-line experience to join the day shift at a busy meat processing facility based in the Carrickfergus industrial area.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with previous food production, butchery or meat-processing experience who are confident using knives and have experience working on a boning or similar meat-processing line. The initial production will involve beef and deer, with candidates required to work with raw meat in a chilled production environment.
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- 40 hours per week
- 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Finish times may vary slightly depending on workload and operational requirements
- Enhanced overtime rates available once 40 hours have been completed
Pay Rate:
- Starting from £13.00 per hour
- Up to £13.50 per hour, depending on department, experience and role requirements
- Weekly knife skills and attendance bonuses available
Key Responsibilities:
- Working with beef and deer meat products in a chilled production environment
- Using knives safely and efficiently on a boning/processing line
- Cutting, trimming and preparing meat to the required specifications
- Removing meat from bones and following correct cutting lines and seams
- Ensuring cuts meet customer specifications and yield requirements
- Operating weighing and scale systems to accurately record product weights
- Packing raw meat products in a chilled production environment
- Loading and unloading meat products and materials
- Cleaning food hygiene areas using appropriate chemicals and equipment
- Reporting any product, quality or operational issues to supervisors
- Following all Health & Safety, food hygiene and PPE procedures
- Working effectively as part of a team to achieve daily production targets
Requirements / Desirable Skills:
- Previous experience working on a boning line is highly desirable
- Previous experience in food manufacturing, butchery or meat processing is essential
- Proven ability to use sharp knives safely when working with meat
- Experience working with beef, deer or similar meat products would be advantageous
- Comfortable working with raw meat in a chilled/wet production environment
- Comfortable working around animal blood
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Good understanding of workplace hygiene and food safety standards
- Reliable and willing to work as part of a team
- Full training will be provided where required
Please note: Candidates with general knife experience may be considered, but previous experience working on a boning line or similar meat-processing line is particularly sought after for this role.
