Purpose of the Job
The Welder is responsible for manufacturing high-security vision frames to specification, ensuring all welding and finishing work meets the required quality standards prior to coating application. The role involves both MIG welding of carbon steel and TIG welding of stainless steel, together with dressing and finishing welded components to achieve a high-quality appearance.
Responsibilities
- Manufacture vision frames in line with production orders, drawings, and specifications.
- Perform MIG welding on carbon steel (1.5mm wall thickness).
- Perform TIG welding on stainless steel components.
- Dress, grind, and finish welded areas to the required standard.
- Complete visual inspections on finished work to ensure quality requirements are met.
- Carry out dimensional checks on completed products against specifications and drawings.
- Meet daily production targets and deadlines.
- Identify and report any fabrication or quality issues to the relevant supervisor.
- Maintain a safe and organised working environment.
- Follow all Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Competencies and Personal Attributes
Required:

Recognised welding qualification or equivalent welding experience.
- Proven experience in both MIG and TIG welding.
- Previous welding and fabrication experience.
- Experience using grinding and finishing tools.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Experience carrying out visual quality inspections.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.
- Reliable and dependable.
- Quality-focused with a high standard of workmanship.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Able to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
- Experience producing bespoke or high-security products.
- Knowledge of dimensional inspection techniques and measuring equipment.
