About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and highly detail-oriented Payroll & Attendance Administrator to manage staff working hours and attendance records across the business. This role is critical in ensuring accurate internal approval of payroll data before submission to our external payroll bureau.
You will take ownership of all time and attendance data, including clocking in and out, holidays, absences, and lateness, working closely with managers, HR, and Finance to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain employee time and attendance records
- Oversee and monitor clocking-in and clocking-out systems
- Record and track holidays, sickness, absences, and lateness
- Ensure all attendance data is accurate, complete, and approved internally
- Prepare and submit validated payroll information to the external payroll bureau
- Produce reports on attendance, absences, and working hours as required
- Liaise with managers to resolve discrepancies or missing data
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant employment regulations
- Support HR and Finance with payroll-related queries and audits
- Ensure all employee data is handled in accordance with data protection legislation, including GDPR
- Collaborate with our HR Consultancy and HR System Providers on a payroll automation project to streamline payroll processing through the HR system
- Support the testing and implementation of new payroll system features and enhancements
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in time and attendance tracking and payroll accuracy
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in payroll administration, time & attendance, or HR administration
- Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
- Confident using time and attendance / clocking systems
- Good working knowledge of payroll processes (bureau experience desirable)
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and HR/payroll systems
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders at all levels
Desirable
- Experience working with external payroll providers
- Knowledge of UK employment practices (holidays, sickness, absence management)
